The lines that define countries, states, towns, neighborhoods, sidewalks, fenced lawns, and our very bodies are all delineations of space governed by laws and regulations as to who is inside or outside of them. Who is the governor and who is the governed?
Engaging artists in a broad conversation about spatial occupation, As of Right investigates different aspects of the topic in order to locate a commonality between diverse groups encountering these boundaries. This project asks where, when, and how different bodies are located in the landscape: from herbalists to police shootings to the space humans allow for other species and including the public college campus itself. These works all ask who has the right to not only exist but to thrive.
